Maybe you know you have a book you want to write.

Maybe you’ve already written it but can’t figure out how to get it published.

Maybe you’re afraid that you’re not a good writer…

No problem!

I have a great menu of services that will get your book done and get it into the hands of people who need to hear what you have to say – in one year or less.

I’ve been where you are now…. I wanted to write a book for over twenty years and made several attempts at it. Then I got the help I needed and got my book written, published and into the hands of readers everywhere in just five months.  Don’t believe me? Take a look at it here.

Patricia_Anderson_52e_lotr_smallSo I’m like you – a real person, trying to get things done when there seem to be other tasks of greater urgency (though less importance) standing in the way.  I need a nudge frequently – a gentle push or a rude shove sometimes. I hired a nudge to get my own book done – a persistent pestering from someone who believed in me more than I believed in myself.

But also, I’m an educational psychologist and expert in achievement motivation. I’ve studied why we do the things we do and more importantly, why we don’t.  I know why even ventures we dearly desire get put on the shelf.

Is your book idea on the shelf right now?

Are you putting it off until you have “more time” or “more energy” or “less responsibility”?

You know that those days will never come. The time to get busy is now. The time to get your book on the shelf – really on the shelf – is now!

Let’s get started ….

NEED A NUDGE?

Get a nudge twice a month by getting The Nudge e-newsletter on the 15th and 30th/31st of the month (more or less…. sometimes I need a nudge myself!). Sign up HERE.

EXCUSES

What If I’m Not a Good Writer?

I know what you’re thinking. You’re remembering that C you got on a paper in high school. You’re remembering how much you hated writing back then and how much you hated having your writing criticized.

Well, no worries! Writing your own book, about things you truly care about, is completely different from completing an assignment for someone else. I found this out in 9th grade. I needed to produce a paper for Biology class and didn’t have the time or inclination to do any research. So I wrote about my own experiences in tracking and trapping small animals around my backyard (ok, so I had an unusual childhood and I was a weird kid). I did no research whatsoever, wrote what was in my head, and got an A.

You can too. I will help you to tap into what you know and care about. I will help you to organize it for a reader to enjoy. And I will help you to get it written. “Help you,” not “criticize you.” This is about developing your vision and sharing your insights, not about getting a grade. What you know has value. It’s important that you share that.

And if English is not your first language or if you have other challenges that are blocking your writing, we can solve those too. I have key knowledge about motivation (my doctoral area) and key skills in editing and supporting writers (I have worked with students of all sorts in shaping college papers and once was an English major myself). I have skill in supporting and empowering my clients (see my book, Parenting: A Field Guide). There are tricks to make the writing process easier for you and more interesting for your readers. Let me tell you what they are. Get your free consultation, attend my free weekly teleconference, or sign up for exactly the help you need.

What If I’m Not An Expert?

Of course you are! Or you will be, once your book is done. The way we become expert at anything is by doing it and teaching it to someone else. When you write your book, you will discover what you need to know and you will understand it even better than you do now, once you’ve walked your reader through the ideas you want to present.

Never think that you need a fancy title or an advanced degree or name recognition before you can write your book. You will become the respected authority you want to be, just by writing your book.

What If I Just Don’t Think I Can Do This?

I’ve been where you are, and I know how unsatisfying it can feel. I’ve believed that things were stacked against me: too many responsibilities and too few resources. I’ve been hit by catastrophic setbacks: job loss, divorce, serious illness, problems in the family.

I’ve believed I had a lot to offer but just couldn’t get going in the right direction. I’ve spun my wheels, getting nowhere fast.

But I found a way out and I can show you the path. Most of your obstacles are self-imposed and I can give you the courage to jump over them. Obstacles that come from outside yourself can be worked around too, and without short-changing your relationships.

Imagine being where you want to be in just six short months. I did it. I moved from dreams to reality in half a year. You can too.

I invite you to use my knowledge, my experience, and my support to become your own best self.

Start now.

No more excuses. Dare to become. I’m here to help.
